The Missouri Humanities Council (MHC) is offering an unpaid internship for fall semester 2016. Working in the Council’s new office in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District, the intern will help the Council to achieve its mission to “enrich lives and strengthen communities by connecting Missourians with the people, places, and ideas that shape our society.”

The intern will be introduced to the various aspects of a statewide nonprofit humanities organization while working with MHC staff to implement several public humanities projects:

• E Pluribus Unum?: Missouri and the Fractured Society: a project funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and developed in partnership with the Kansas City Public Library.
• Pulitzer Prize Centennial Campfire Initiative: a project about the Hyatt Regency Collapse in 1981 developed in partnership with the Kansas City Star and the UMKC Journalism Department.
• Additional projects, including a World War I Centennial exhibit and programs, a Speaker’s Bureau, and First Fridays, the Crossroads District’s popular monthly showcase of Kansas City’s arts and culture.

The intern should have excellent communications skills, be social-media savvy, and have a demonstrated interest in the public humanities.
