The purpose of the organization shall be to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) students within the UMKC Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Health Science, as well as to provide services to create a more open and inclusive LGBT-friendly campus. In addition, the mission of the LGBT Health Alliance is to improve healthcare for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender patients. We work towards this goal by educating medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy and health science students on health disparities in this population and the factors that may affect their access to care and their quality of care. The purpose of Pride Alliance is to provide a supportive network, a positive social outlet, and a caring environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, pansexual, asexual, and ally communities within the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Additional functions of the group include providing educational programs and activities about LGBTQIPA topics and to advocate fairness and respect for our students, faculty, and staff.
Purpose: Provide a platform for LGBTQIA student organizations to work collaboratively to meet each organization’s objectives and foster a sense of community among students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).
Mission: To foster an environment of respect and appreciation around issues of diversity, including but not limited to race, gender, ethnicity, social justice, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression.
OutLaws is UMKC Law School’s organization for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) law students and their allies. We provide educational opportunities, social settings, and safe spaces for those interested in the well being of persons of all gender identities and sexual orientations.
The purpose of this organization shall be to provide a space where topics relevant to the experience of being a transgender or gender nonconforming individual and a student can be discussed and to promote community among LGBT and ally students and community members.
