How to Join

Our fraternities and sororities bring in new members through processes know as recruitment or intake. Recruitment occurs in both formal and informal ways.

Requirements to Join

Only currently enrolled students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City are eligible to join any fraternity or sorority. Each organization has a grade point average and credit hour requirement specific to their chapter to be eligible for membership.

In addition to these requirements, chapters may expect leadership and service experiences prior to joining. There is also a financial component to fraternities and sororities that all interested students should consider when participating in recruitment or intake.

Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC)

Formal Panhellenic recruitment is sponsored by the Collegiate Panhellenic Council and is a three day process in the fall semester designed to give a preview of the four National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) chapters on campus. Students will have an opportunity to explore the academic, service, leadership and sisterhood components for every sorority. All potential new members participating in the formal recruitment process must register and participate in all days of recruitment events. At the conclusion of the recruitment process chapters will extend a bid, or an invitation to membership, to those they would like to join their organization. Women will only receive one bid during the formal recruitment process.

Spring recruitment is informal and does not require a woman to register. Not all Panhellenic sororities will be conducting a spring recruitment or new member process. Students who are interested in joining during the spring semester should contact that organization directly using the public email address they have posted on RooGroups. Women may be offered several bids during informal sorority recruitment processes, but may only accept one.
