Browser Tracking Cookies

The T&S project team uses cookies on its website for its technical functioning and for gathering statistics.

The legal basis for processing personal data by using session cookies is Art. 6 para. 1 point f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Without the use of the session cookies especially, several functions could not be offered on our website.

A cookie is a small piece of data that a website stores on the visitor’s computer or mobile device.

The information on this page lists the cookies that this website uses and describes their purpose. You will also find some more detail here about cookies relating to our social media channels and WordPress Statistics, the service we use for our statistics.

The T&S project team is active on social media and other platforms. These communities strengthen our online presence and visibility.

  • The T&S website does set cookies with the display of links to our social media channels (Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube) when you are browsing our website as well as to other websites like Wikipedia and online dictionaries.
  • By clicking on one of the social media buttons on our website, you will be re-directed to those websites, which have their own cookie and privacy policies over which we have no control.

The T&S project team is using session cookies to ensure the correct usage of the website. Cookies used by the T&S project team are deleted after the session.

Persistent cookies are saved on your computer and are not deleted automatically when you close your browser, unlike a session cookie, which is deleted when you close your browser. The website remembers your personal settings or reading paths in order to restore your position at a later time.

WordPress Statistics

The T&S project team uses the WordPress tool Statistics to statistically evaluate visitor access. The provider is Automattic Inc, 60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110–4929, USA.

WordPress Statistics uses cookies, which are stored on your computer and allow an analysis of the use of the website. The information generated by the cookies about the use of our website is stored on servers in the USA. Your IP address is anonymized after processing and before saving.

WordPress-Stats cookies remain on your computer until you delete them.

The storage of WordPress Stats-Cookies is based on art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO. The T&S project team has a legitimate interest in the anonymised analysis of user behaviour in order to optimise the use and the dissemination of the site.

You can set your browser to inform you about the setting of cookies and to allow cookies only in individual cases, to exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and to activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If you deactivate cookies, the functionality of our website may be limited.

You can object to the collection and use of your data for the future by setting an opt-out cookie in your browser by clicking on this link: https://www.quantcast.com/opt-out/. Otherwise look at you Browser for do-not-track preferences.

If you delete the cookies on your computer, you will need to set the opt-out cookie again.

Google Analytics

UMKC generates cookies for the purposes of Google Analytics whenever anyone browses on any university webpage (.umkc.edu). Depending on the browser, you may or may not be able to see evidence of these cookies.

Google Analytics is a service which monitors and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of all the UMKC websites and therefore also the T&S website.

Google Analytics cookies remain on your computer until you delete them.

The cookies used by Google Analytics will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google provides information about the cookies used by Google Analytics.

UMKC and therefore the T&S project team uses cookies to track the following information about visitors and to create anonymous statistical reports about visitor activity. The T&S Project Team itself does not collect, store, or use any of this information collected by Google Analytics.
