UMKC Counseling Services works to provide the information and education needed to eliminate stigma and empower everyone to seek the support that they need to live their best life.
UMKC Counseling Services provides a number of outreach services designed to educate students, faculty and staff about key mental health concerns relevant to our diverse community of undergraduate, graduate and professional school students. In addition, our office is committed to reducing the stigma that surrounds mental illness. A student may choose not to seek mental health care because of the myths, misconceptions, and negative judgments about mental illness that are too often perpetuated in society.
We work diligently to meet students where they are and promote psychological well-being across campus. UMKC Counseling Services staff are often in attendance at tabling events and resource fairs. We also deliver presentations, facilitate workshops and provide trainings such as Ask. Listen. Refer. (ALR).
