Symposium Fees

2022 Registration Fees

The Kansas City Conducting Symposium offers four different registration options. Please note that tuition/registration fees do not include meals or housing. 

Conducting Participant Track:  $599

  • This track includes a total of 8 conducting rounds.
  • Conducting Participants will conduct the UMKC Conservatory Chamber Players four times.
  • Conducting Participants will conduct the breakout room ensembles four times.
  • Breakout room ensembles consist of UMKC Conservatory students and KCCS attendees.
  • All Conducting Participants are required to play in breakout rooms.
  • Only 25 Conducting Participant spots are available. Participants will be selected in the order that their registration fee is received.
    • To enroll in the Conducting Participant Track for academic credit, please refer to “For-credit Conducting Participant Track” below.

Auditor Track:  $250

  • This track includes a total of 4 conducting rounds.
  • Auditors will conduct the breakout room ensembles four times. 
  • Breakout room ensembles consist of UMKC Conservatory students and KCCS attendees.
  • All auditors are required to play in breakout rooms.

Observer Track: $150

  • The observer track is designed for all other individuals wishing to engage in the symposium.
  • There are no conducting rounds for the observer track.
  • Observers are invited and encouraged, but not required, to play in breakout rooms.

For-credit Conducting Participant Track:  $250 + UMKC tuition fees

  • This track is for Conducting Participants wishing to receive one or two academic credits of graduate or undergraduate coursework. 
  • The $250 registration fee is required to reserve space as a for-credit participant and is nonrefundable.
  • UMKC tuition fees will be billed from and paid directly to the UMKC cashier’s office.
  • Tuition fees are determined by the UMKC in-state tuition rate.

Optional Add-ons:

On-Campus Parking Permit$25

  • This parking permit allows participants to park in any UMKC Student Parking Lot.
  • Parking is limited on campus. Permits are strongly encouraged for symposium attendees with cars. 
  • Permits must be purchased by May 31, 2022.

Scholarships and Fee Assistance:

  • The Kansas City Conducting Symposium is one of several nationally-renowned summer programs to be included in the annual CBDNA Mike Moss Conducting Grant competition. Please visit the CBDNA Diversity Committee page for more information regarding eligibility and how to apply. 
  • This page will be updated as other scholarship opportunities arise. 

Due Dates:
All registration fees are due by May 1, 2022.

Refund Policy:
We do not offer refunds for our summer programs. All fees and deposits are non-refundable. 
In the event that the Kansas City Conducting Symposium is canceled by UMKC, a full refund will be issued.
