Samuel Huang

Samuel (Chun Hang) Huang graduated from Kent State University, Hong Kong Baptist University and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. His teachers are Cathy Meng Robinson, Amy Lee, Ivan Chan, and the Miami String Quartet. He is currently an ABD and had served as the concertmaster fellow for three years at UMKC under the tutelage of Prof. Benny Kim.

The winner of the Hong Kong Baptist University Concerto competition and UMKC Concerto/Aria competition, Samuel has performed as a soloist with the Hong Kong Baptist University Symphony Orchestra, Collegium Musicum Hong Kong, Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, Shenzhen Arts School Orchestra, Kwai Tsing Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra (Ukraine). As a devoted orchestral musician, Samuel was appointed as the concertmaster of the Kent State University Orchestra, Heartland Chamber Orchestra, Texas Festival Orchestra, and Miami Festival Opera Orchestra.

Samuel’s performance opportunities have brought him to various international music festivals including The Harlaxton International Chamber Music Festival in the UK, the Central Conservatory Music Festival in Beijing, the Kent/Blossom Music Festival, the Round Top Music Festival, and Miami Music Festival. Besides solo and orchestral performances, Samuel has collaborated with renowned musicians in chamber music including Ida Kavafian, Yekwon Sunwoo, Keith Robinson, and St. Petersburg String Quartet. Samuel has served as the violinist of the NewEar Contemporary Chamber Ensemble since 2015.
