Seth Davis

Seth Andrew Davis is a musician and composer from the Kansas City area. Seth is involved in many different genres including, jazz, rock, classical, electronic, improvised, and experimental. Seth studied at MCC-Penn Valley with Clarence Smith, Samuel Beckett, and Ben Hooper. Seth also studied composition at UMKC’s Community Music School with Michael Miller. In the Fall 2015, Seth started at the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance where he has been focusing on composition, electronic music, improvisation, and jazz performance. At UMKC he has studied composition with James Mobberley, Chen Yi, and Paul Rudy and guitar with Rod Fleeman.

Seth’s main goals as a musician and composer is to start his own ensembles, bands, and combos and create original work within those groups, and take on the role of both performer and composer. As an artist, Seth’s process can be closely related to that of an auteur, the film critic term for a director whose work reflects their creative vision and fingerprint, such as film directors like Orson Welles, Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, Quentin Tarantino, and Alejandro Jodorowsky. Seth wishes to use his music to create a sense of ceremony, concept, and message.
