Submission Opportunities


newEar Reading Session

Our partnership with newEar contemporary chamber ensemble will include a reading session of selected works for any combination of violin/viola, cello, and piano. This will be open to any workshop participant. Pieces must not exceed 8 minutes in duration. To be considered for the reading session, email a PDF of your score, and a program note or a short descriptive paragraph about the piece, to umkcworkshopsubmissions@gmail.com

All emails should have the subject line of: “Submission: Reading Session– Last name”.

Noah Matthew Siegel Prize for Young Composers

The 2019 Noah Mathew Siegel Composition Competition for solo percussion is open to any composition workshop participant. The winner of the Composition Competition will receive full tuition to the workshop and a master lesson with one of the faculty members. In addition, Bill Shaltis, in conjunction with newEar Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, will premiere the winning work on the camp’s closing concert, Friday, June 21st.

Pieces must not exceed 8 minutes in length. To apply, email a PDF of your score, a program note or a short descriptive paragraph about the piece, and a list of your previous compositions, to umkcworkshopsubmissions@gmail.com. All emails should have the subject line of: “Submission: Composition Competition– Last name”

Deadline for all submissions: April 26th.

All decisions will be made by May 6th.

All selected works will be recorded live, and made available to the composers.
