Meals (not provided)
Meals are not provided during the workshop, since the cafeteria is closed in summer. Participants should plan to bring their own food or money for lunch and dinner each day. Minors wishing to bring a sack lunch and eat in the lobby will be provided a chaperone. We will have a limited number of snacks (chips, granola bars, etc.) on hand too. There are also numerous restaurants within walking distance of the campus. Minors wishing to eat out for lunch will walk to a nearby restaurant together. Minors must stay with the group, as they are not allowed to leave the campus without a chaperone. A list of area restaurants is available here. Vending machines and water fountains are also available in campus buildings. For those staying in dorms, each room contains a mini-fridge should participants need to store food in them.
Adult participants of our programs are welcome to eat where they please during mealtimes. Kansas City is home to many wonderful restaurants.
- On-Campus Housing: $300 (double occupancy)
Participants who choose to stay on campus will be housed in a UMKC residence hall for 6 nights (Check in June 16, check out June 22). This fee includes bed linens and towels. For more information about on-campus housing, see our page “Traveling to and Staying in Kansas City”
- On-Campus parking permit: $20
This will allow participants to park in any UMKC Student Parking Lot. Parking is limited on campus, so a permit is strongly encouraged for those who will be bringing a car. Advance parking permits must be purchased by May 31, 2019. After this date, parking permits may be purchased by visiting the UMKC Parking office.
- Secure Wireless Internet Access: $35
UMKC Residence Halls are equipped with secure internet access; this fee will provide each guest with a password to obtain this access. Campus-wide internet access is available to all at no cost to all participants, but is unsecured and not accessible in the residence halls. Wireless internet access must be purchased by May 31, 2019.
