Conservatory student Benjamin Bacni, who is in his final year of a Master’s degree, and alum Cynthia Simpson (2015, Artist’s Certificate) both of whom study(ied) with Martin Hackleman, took first and second place, respectively, in the University Division at the International Horn Competition of America, August 28–30, 2015, held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Ben and Cindy won over 58 performers in the University Division. Josh East, junior, also competed in the University Division, as did alum Emily Pfaff, and alum Chris Williams was a finalist in the Professional division.
