Introduction

This online report presents a summary of the results from the 2024 Greater Kansas City Nonprofit Organizations and Associations Salary and Benefits Survey. For this project the Greater Kansas City area includes 19 counties in Kansas and Missouri, the survey area is displayed below. Data Quality and Limitations

To enhance the quality of salary data and address ongoing inconsistencies in salary reporting caused by erroneous information, each reported position title was individually reviewed. Additionally, to prevent significant skewing of the data, outliers were identified and removed using the Interquartile Range (IQR) method. Any cases that indicated hourly pay or amounts that fell outside the definition of annual salary were excluded to maintain consistency in the salary data.

It is important to note that significant deviations in salary ranges—particularly when comparing the average salary reported with the average minimum and maximum salaries—may be attributed to a lack of available cases. This means that not every position reporting a current salary also reported a range. The “Number of Cases” column in both the published and online tables serves as a useful indicator of how many positions are included in the reported range.

Quick Participants Statistics

survey participants chart

A total of 187 responses were collected in the 2024 salary survey. Of these, 176 (94%) organizations were classified as 501(c)(3), one as 501(c)(4) (1%), nine as 501(c)(6) (5%), and one as another type. Over the years, organizations classified as 501(c)(3) have consistently represented the majority of those surveyed.

Of the participating organizations, 21% have an annual budget of less than $500,000, categorizing them as small budget organizations. Meanwhile, 52% fall within an annual budget range of $500,000 to $4,999,999, classifying them as medium to large organizations. Finally, 26% of organizations have an annual budget of $5,000,000 or more, identifying them as very large organizations. The two charts below provide further insight into budget distribution and categorization.

Additionally, 21% chose not to answer the question regarding PTO, and 22% abstained from answering about health insurance.
