Biography:
John is a practicing architect and associate teaching professor in the Department of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design at the University of Missouri/Kansas City. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University, and Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia. He has practiced in Kansas City and Chicago for over twenty years, specializing in both commercial and residential projects. His practical experience informs his academic focus on building materials and assembly, especially in foundation curriculum. In addition to his time at UMKC, he has taught at Kansas State University and the University of Illinois/Chicago. He also maintains an art studio in Kansas City, working primarily with hand-built ceramics in studies of archetypal architectural forms.
