We prioritize student success. Once you declare a major in one of our programs, you will meet with an adviser and develop a program of study for the remainder of your time at UMKC. The program of study ensures you are aware of the courses and requirements necessary for the degree program. We meet with you at least once a semester to check on your progress and monitor your success. AUPD faculty will answer your questions about the design professions. Resources such as counseling, study skills, tutoring, medical care, housing and career development are available at UMKC to assist you.

It is imperative that students in our programs-of-study meet with an adviser each semester. Your success depends on creating a plan of study early in your studies at UMKC. This plan of study maps out a progression of courses that will lead to completion of the program. This plan of study should also assist you in determining the time and financial resources necessary for degree completion.

General Education Requirement and Degree Audits:

In addition to meeting with their design program advisors, students also have a responsibility to keep track of their own progress. UMKC offers major maps with suggested milestones to track your progress. UMKC also offers an online degree audit system (DARS) where students can see where they stand in terms of degree requirements.

Urban Planning + Design students should meet with Roo-Advisng at least once a semester. Questions about the General Education requirements should be directed to staff in Roo Advising: https://www.umkc.edu/advising/students/index.html
