Airport Information

Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is 30 minutes north of the UMKC campus.  SuperShuttle buses service more than 90 hotels, with fares to the Marriott Country Club Plaza at 4445 Main costing $20 one-way. The average taxi fare to the Plaza area is about $60. Uber fares are usually about $25.

Driving Information

Major routes into Kansas City are I-70 from the east (St. Louis) and west (Denver), I-35 from the north (Des Moines) and southwest (Wichita), and I-29 from the northwest (Omaha).

South of the Missouri River, Kansas City is laid out on a grid with numbered streets divided as East and West by Main St. (North of the river, which is where the airport is, numbered and other streets are designated “North.”)

The University of Missouri-Kansas City is just east of Main/Brookside Boulevard between 49th and 53rd St.

The National World War I Museum is at 100 W. 26th St., just west of Main in Liberty Memorial Park.  There’s free parking. It’s an uphill walk from Main St.

The Kansas City Irish Center is at 15 Linwood Boulevard, just west of Main between 32nd and 33rd Streets.

The Main MAX bus stops at the Marriott Country Club Plaza Hotel, 4445 Main and very near the WWI Museum, the KC Irish Center, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Please note: there are several Marriott Hotels in the Kansas City area. Also, at 47th St., Main becomes Brookside Boulevard.
