Caribbean Native Loves Being a UMKC Roo

By Zaquoya Rogers zaquoya

My name is Zaquoya Rogers and I am a freshman enrolled into Pre-Pharmacy. I chose UMKC because of their extensive programs in all fields of medicine, in particular Pharmacy. And since I love kangaroos, why not be one! I am a proud native of a Caribbean island called Anguilla and every year I fly back and take part in the annual Carnival events. My life goal is to be educated and beat all odds and stereotypes placed on young, black women in terms of success.

The Women’s Center is a wonder place to be! The staff members are welcoming and are dedicated to creating a positive environment while promoting female empowerment and gender equity. I look forward to not only learning more about women’s issues but helping to educate others on the problems women of every race and background confront daily.
