Great to have you back, Torshawna!

By Torshawna Griffin

Hi, my name is Torshawna Griffin. I am a third year student in the Mechanical Engineering Department. I chose UMKC because of the engineering community and the distance from home.

I like working at the Women’s Center because it gives me the opportunity to have meaningful interactions with various women. I have watched many women in my life go through various hardships, and I have the resources and experiences to give advice to different women, both young and old.

This semester, I hope to continue to fight for equal pay, and to encourage everyone to love their body, big or small. By the end of the semester, I also hope to bring a new perspective of women in the STEM field. Additionally, I am interested in being an advocate for both racial and gender injustices.

Come visit me at the Women’s Center!
