Barclay Martin:
Kansas City-based singer/songwriter Barclay Martin has had a successful recording career highlighted by international travel since 2000. Martin’s current projects include the founding of a hygiene and sanitation project in Mali, West Africa through Medical Missions Foundation, work in Kenya through a partnership with water.org and is the coordinator for Social Justice and Sustainability at Kansas City Academy. Martin has also invested his talent and passion in support of the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging. From 2007-2009, Martin traveled to the Philippines several times to work with Filipino musicians and children. There, he served as musical director for a one-day cultural festival of music and dance entitled The Gift.  Martin’s journey is the framework for the documentary film Rise and Dream, which has recently won the Audience Choice award at the Thin Line Film Festival in Denton, TX.

Celina Tio of JULIAN: Now familiar as the braided powerhouse on Food Network’s hugely popular show The Next Iron Chef and most recently on Bravo TV’s Top Chef Masters, chef Celina Tio got an early start in the kitchen. Even at the tender age of eight, her typical day used to involve shopping lists, Julia Child re-runs, baking and cooking for family and friends. How time flies. During seven years heading the kitchen at KansasCity’s renowned American Restaurant, Celina Tio garnered both local and national accolades. These included 2005 Chef of the year by Chef magazine and the James Beard Foundation’s 2007 Best Chef: Midwest. Tio was also recently honored by KC Magazine as Chef of the Year for her first proprietary restaurant, JULIAN. At this popular Kansas City neighborhood gathering spot, she creates chef-driven “feel good food” for her guests, family and friends – just like she did in her youth.
