“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking that they don’t have any.” – Alice Walker

Join your UMKC Women’s Center on Tuesday, February 28th for a screening of the documentary “Miss Representation”. This documentary explores how mainstream media contributes to the underrepresentation of women in influential positions in America. Writer, director and producer, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, challenges the media’s limiting and often disparaging portrayals of women, which make it difficult for the average girl to see herself as powerful.

A reception will begin at 5:30pm and the screening begins at 6:00pm at the Student Union Theatre (5100 Cherry Street) . A facilitated discussion will follow the screening. This event is FREE and open to the public, but PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Register online at: umkcmissrepresentation.eventbrite.com This event is co-sponsored by the UMKC Counseling Center and K-Roo Student Media.
