UM South Africa Education Program call for proposals

UMKC Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Barbara Bichelmeyer and the UMKC campus representatives to UM South Africa Education Program (UMSAEP) encourage interested faculty to respond to the call for proposals to support productive collaborations between the University of Missouri, University of the Western Cape and, potentially, other institutions in South Africa.

Funding is available for faculty exchange and South African partnership proposals. Over the years, many UMKC faculty have received awards that have led to rich partnerships with colleagues in South Africa.

Members of the UMSAEP include Lawrence Dreyfus, Ph.D., vice chancellor for Research & Economic Development; Michael Kruger, Ph.D., Curators’ professor of Physics; and UMKC School of Computing and Engineering Dean Kevin Truman, Ph.D., UMSAEP campus coordinator. Proposals should be submitted to the campus coordinator,, no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15.

The System’s relationship with UWC was formalized in 1986, and is a singular example of a program that includes all four campuses. These exchanges have generated many funded competitive proposals, peer review publications, and instructional or curricular innovations.
