What is UMatters?
UMatters is a weekly newsletter blog sent to all UMKC faculty and staff. It is maintained and distributed by the Division of Strategic Marketing and Communications. The blog postings are about major events, issues and achievements important to its readers. During each semester, the university hosts hundreds of events. UMatters features stories about the major events, most of which are free and open to UMatters’ readers and, often, to the larger community.

Write a 100-150 word description of your event. Give all the important details – who, what, when, where and why. Keynote speaker? Is it free? If not, what’s the cost? Is it open to the public? Are RSVPs required?

When do you want the story to appear? UMatters will publish one story about the event – so pick the best date for promoting your event.

Target Audience(s) - e.g, faculty, students, staff, community (required):

Optional but highly recommended: Send an image/photo (jpg format) to accompany the story. Send it as an attachment in a separate e-mail to umatters@umkc.edu. Suggestions: a photo from last year's event, the event's branding image or logo or a photo of the keynote speaker. Stories with images attract readers.
