New Letters Invites Writers to Submit Work for Literary Awards

New Letters magazine of writing and art is now accepting new writing for the 29th Annual Literary Awards for Writers. The contest welcomes unpublished works of fiction, poetry, and essay. 

The winner from each category will receive a $1,500 cash prize and publication in New Letters.

Poetry entries should consist of three to six poems, and fiction or essay entries consist of up to 8,000 words. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, and there is no restriction on the number of entries or categories to which a person can submit.

The reading fee of $15 for postal entries and $18 for online entries includes the cost of a one-year subscription to New Letters. The entry fee for subsequent submissions is $10 postal entries and $13 online entries.

All entries will be considered for publication, and first runners-up will receive a copy of a recent book of poetry or fiction from New Letters affiliate BkMk Press.  The postmark deadline for entries is May 18, 2014.

Current students and employees of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and current volunteer members of the New Letters and BkMk Press staffs, are not eligible to enter the contest.
