Challenged to spread the word about how health sciences librarians make a difference, Sue Sykes-Berry and Kristy Steigerwalt received first place for their winning entry in the Wolters Kluwer Health Video contest.
Wolters Kluwer is global information services and publishing company whose products include the OvidMD database. Video entries were judged by a panel comprised of clinicians, librarians and publishers who reviewed the videos on the basis of creativity and originality, quality and content of the message. The winning entry received a $5,000 cash prize.
Contest judge, Sujana S. Chandrasekhar, MD, FACS, FAAO-HNS, had this to say about their entry: “As a busy, practicing physician who just tries to ‘Google it’ or ‘Pubmed it’ on the fly, but who wishes she had that type of support in unusual patient cases, that video absolutely tells the value of a great medical librarian.”
Sue Sykes-Berry began working at UMKC’s Health Science Library in July 1998 where she is the Instructional Reference Librarian. Kristy Steigerwalt joined UMKC in August 2011 and is one of the library’s Clinical Medical Librarians.
