The XIV Conference of the International Society for the Luso-Hispanic Humor Study will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Oct. 17-19, in the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Student Union. Attendance is free.
The conference will feature two keynote lectures. At 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, Bruno Damiani of the Catholic University of America will present “From Bodily Humors to Humor: The Journey to Laughter.” The lecture will take place in UMKC’s Student Union Room 401.
At 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, Luce Lopez-Baralt, of the Universidad de Puerto Rico will present “La risa caribeña de Luis Rafael Sánchez,’secretario nacional del relajo.” The lecture will take place in UMKC’s Student Union Room 401. It will be presented in Spanish.
