The Financial Management Association International, an organization that provides finance and economics students the opportunity to interact with faculty and finance practitioners, recently gave UMKC’s chapter a big thumbs up.

First, chapter advisor Fred Hays, Ph.D., Henry W. Bloch School of Management, received the FMA Superior Faculty Advisor Award for his involvement in and contributions to the student chapter.

And, the entire UMKC FMA Student Chapter earned a Superior Chapter Award for the third straight year. Less than 5% of all student chapters receive this designation.

Then, twenty collegiate fellows were named for 2013, and six of them are UMKC students. No other university placed as many students on this distinguished list. Qualifying students must demonstrate meaningful contributions in service to their chapter throughout the year, through such activities as leadership, program planning or exemplary service.

UMKC’s newest Collegiate FMA fellows are: Chris Blackwell; Richard Dugbo; Paul Kim; Elizabeth Miller; Kristy Sidwell; and Ryan Swartzlander.

FMA was established to “encourage and recognize academic and professional excellence in the finance field. FMA promotes the study and practice of financial education. They also provide opportunities for personal growth, service and association between members and practicing professionals.”
