Why should you give blood? The Kansas City community uses up to 600 units of blood in one day. Summer blood drives are vital to maintain an adequate local blood supply and appointments are crucial to ensuring a successful drive. The unit of blood each donor provides usually saves two lives and many times the lives saved are young lives.
There are two ways to make an appointment:
- Email Jane Vogl, firstname.lastname@example.org, Site Coordinator, the time you would like to donate — slots are open every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
- Online at www.savealifenow.org, click on “schedule an appointment” button on the right of the page, and enter the code: umkcvolker and then click on search to access the link to this drive’s appointment page.
Your donation will help UMKC be recognized as a Community Star Organization (at least 400 units donated in a calendar year) by the Community Blood Center (CBC). UMKC met this goal in 2012 and with your help we will again meet it in 2013. In 2012, UMKC was the only Kansas City university to be recognized as a community star organization.
