Todd Shaffer, M.D., MBA, Professor of Medicine at the School of Medicine, was presented the “Soaring Eagle Award,” an honor bestowed upon past presidents of the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians who completed their tenure in leadership.
Shaffer, of Lee’s Summit, is program director of the UMKC Family Medicine Residency at Truman Medical Center Lakewood, one of the largest family medicine residency programs in the country. He practices medicine in Kansas City.

Leaving the MAFP leadership, Shaffer is now President-Elect of the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, which is the national membership organization of the directors of family medicine residency programs.
