School of Dentistry Professor Wins American Society of Microbiology Poster Award

Drs. Carole McArthur of the department of Oral and Craniofacial Science at the UMKC School of Dentistry, Rob Warren at Stellenbosh University in South Africa and Nicole Parrish at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute in collaboration with doctoral candidate Marinus Barnard, received an “outstanding poster award” from the American Society of Microbiology at their annual meeting in Denver.

The research described was a comparison of state-of-the-art methods to detect Tuberculosis (TB) drug resistance and was one of 15 posters selected from almost 2,700 submitted.

The research, titled “The evaluation of the Sensititre MYCOTB Plate assay for drug susceptibility testing against first and second-line drugs,” was a result of support to McArthur from Thermo-Fisher Scientific.
