UMKC Human Resources completed Phase I of the Staff Job Title and Salary Project (GGS). The study evaluated about 600 administrative job titles at UMKC using our new Global Grading methodology. Market data was collected and pay ranges have been developed. The end result is a new job hierarchy and a new compensation structure for the University.
Over the past several weeks, Human Resources has been meeting with Deans and Vice Chancellors to discuss the goals and outcomes of this project as well as to communicate the results of Phase I.
In Phase I, there are now 18 pay ranges in a single structure instead of the former multiple structures with varying numbers of ranges. Some title consolidation has occurred, however Phase II will incorporate additional title consolidation and will be forthcoming. As we continue to move forward with the implementation of Phase II, titles of employees may change, however no employee will lose pay as a result of the study.
