UMKC Sustainability Team Sponsors Voluntary Energy Management Campaign

January 8th, 2013 · No Comments · News

[The following was provided by the Department of Campus Facilities Management.]

In January 2011, the Energy Sub-Committee of the UMKC Sustainability Team was formed and in 2012 the interactive web Pledge was launched to give all students, faculty and staff on campus to help reduce our energy usage.

Three daily actions were identified as a result of a survey by the Voluntary Energy Sub-Committee and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning:

  • Turn off lights in the workplace
  • Turn off your computer monitor
  • Turn off auxiliary items (such as printers, copiers, etc.)

The Voluntary Energy Sub-Committee and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning crafted a survey to help understand what voluntary actions were already underway on campus and what projects could be expanded.

Students, faculty and staff to assist in reducing energy costs on campus with your pledge today. Pledge one, two or all three action steps.

Join your UMKC friends and colleagues and take the pledge to save energy. Make Your Pledge TODAY!
