It’s again time for the Provost’s annual Workstation Replacement Program. The WRP ordering database is now open and will remain available through Dec. 14. Fiscal officer approval of all orders should be completed by Dec. 18, and equipment delivery will take place shortly after the beginning of the new year.
Provost funding is again available for most academic units. However, all divisions – academic and administrative – are encouraged to participate in this PC replacement initiative.
The requirements for Provost’s funding eligibility are:
• For PCs: networked Dell Optiplex 760 PCs or Dell Latitude e6400 (or older) laptops with warranties expiring July 31, 2013 or earlier.
• For Macs: networked Apple Mac computers purchased before July, 2009.
• The system must be the user’s primary computer.
To assist in identifying computers eligible for replacement, departmental inventory reports will be emailed to department heads, fiscal officers and technical IT liaisons. Departments should review the inventory report and review their internal records to ensure inventories are complete. If you do not receive an inventory report by Nov. 19, contact Stephen Pottebaum, ext. 1434 or Marilyn Reisenbichler ext. 1432.
As in years past, academic recipients of Provost-funded computers will be required to trade in their old computers when the new ones are installed. Eligible users who would like to order upgrades to the standard Dell configurations, or would prefer an Apple desktop or laptop computer, must pay the cost difference with department funds.
Only one computer per person will be eligible for Provost funding, and it must meet all eligibility requirements. If you have received a new computer at any time during the past four years, your computer is not eligible for replacement funding.
