KC Crimestoppers, in conjunction with the UMKC Police Department, will host a Community Shredding Event on Saturday, June 9, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will be held in the parking lot just west of the UMKC Administrative Center, 5115 Oak Street. Shredding confidential documents is a way to protect yourself from identify theft.
Your old documents will be instantly shredded by a Shred-it high-speed, mobile, cross-shredder. All shredded materials are recycled to help protect the environment.
The event is free and open to the public; however, donations will be accepted to benefit the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline, a 501c3 non-profit organization that takes anonymous citizen tips to solve crimes in your community. There is a limit of three boxes/bags of documents to be shredded per vehicle.
