The 2012 UMKC Health Sciences Student Research Summit will be held on Thursday, April 19 on the UMKC Health Sciences campus at Hospital Hill. Student poster presentations will be on display at the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine and in the Health Sciences Building. Faculty, staff and students also are invited to attend the Summit Welcome Session at 11 a.m. in the Health Sciences Building.
Dr. Nelson Sabates, director of the UMKC Center for Vision Research and president and chief executive officer of Sabates Eye Centers is the Welcome Session Keynote Speaker. Also during the Welcome Session, a panel presentation will feature the UMKC Health and Life Sciences Deans: Dr. Lawrence Dreyfus, School of Biological Sciences; Dr. Marsha Pyle, School of Dentistry; Dr. Betty Drees, School of Medicine; Dr. Lora Lacey-Haun, School of Nursing; and Dr. Russell Melchert, School of Pharmacy.

2012 SEARCH Undergraduate Research Symposium
The 12th Annual SEARCH Undergraduate Research Symposium will also be held on Thursday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Union on the Volker Campus. The SEARCH Symposium will feature presentations by students in five divisions:
- Architecture, Urban Planning, and Design
- Behavioral and Social Sciences
- Biological and Health Sciences
- Humanities and Performing Arts
- Physical Sciences, Engineering, and Mathematics
Judging of presentations will take place between 11:00 and 1:00. The Awards Ceremony will begin at 4 pm
