UMKC’s faculty, staff and students are invited to a celebration in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, May 5 at Miller Nichols Library (Room 303), Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Please bring your brown bag lunch and enjoy complimentary spring rolls, tea, and Asian coffee.
Presenters and presentations at the event include Dr. S. Andrew Granade, Assistant Professor of Musicology, UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance: “Rock, Silk, Bamboo: China’s Musical Aesthetics,” and Dr. Monica Nandan, Associate Professor in the UMKC Department of Social Work: “India: Diversity within diversity, one country many ‘nations.”
UMKC graduate students from the Conservatory will perform:
- Ms. Chiung-I Huang: Ur-hu performance, Race Horse and Yearning for the Spring Breeze.
- Ms. Juan Zhou: Gu Zheng performance, Spring Stops at Yang Guan and Fall Wind Poem.
- Ms. Xin Wang: Vocal performance, Flowing Little Stream; and Wuge Breeding Sheep.
