John Kevern’s Pervious Concrete Research Impacts Many Areas

Assistant Professor John Kevern and Chris Farney, a Civil Engineering graduate student, perform an infiltration test for water absorbency.

John Kevern, assistant professor of civil engineering in the School of Computing and Engineering, is conducting several nationally-funded pervious concrete related research projects which are providing SCE civil engineering students with research opportunities.   Pervious concrete is a specialty concrete with properties that reduces storm water run-off due to its ability to absorb rain water, the urban heat island effect and ice-related falls.
