UMKC Diversity Strategic Action Plan


The Chancellor’s Diversity Council (CDC) invites your comments about the Draft UMKC Diversity Strategic Plan which will represent the implementation plan for Goal Five of the Campus Strategic Plan:  Embrace Diversity.  We recognize that achieving the vision of a diverse and inclusive university environment involves much more than simply words in a mission statement.  Therefore, the CDC has been charged with the task of developing a comprehensive diversity plan.  Our work has been in cooperative with the Division of Diversity, Access, and Equity and varied partners across the UMKC community.

UMKC values diversity as central to our mission as an urban research university.  We believe diversity is an important “driver” of excellence in education-an education that prepares students for an increasingly complex and global environment.  When students, staff and faculty develop competencies to work across differences, creativity, problem solving and innovation is the result.

We hope that you will comment on the Draft Plan (linked in the right-hand column) and help us as we further develop UMKC’s path for the future, because we cannot have excellence without diversity.  The Council invites your comments on the direction of the Plan and strategies which could improve UMKC.  The Council will revise the Plan and strategies based on feedback and finalize a document for further comment within the UMKC community.
