All Staff Invited to Get Involved in Committees
Committees are essential to the mission and vision of Staff Council. All staff members are encouraged to get involved in one of the six long-term committees. The first meetings of each of these committees will be held in the next two weeks, so you have the opportunity to help set the direction of a committee that fits your interests, from Advocacy to Professional Development.
The Professional Development Committee will develop and implement programming and resources to empower UMKC staff to develop their skills and become even more accomplished individuals. Its first meeting will be on Monday, July 9, 8:30 to 10 am, in the Plaza Room of the Administrative Center.
The Communications Committee will focus on improving marketing efforts and methods of communication for UMKC staff. This committee will meet for the first time on Tuesday, July 10, 8:30 to 10 am, in the Loose Park Room of the Administrative Center.
The Events Committee will develop fresh and innovative events to strengthen and celebrate the UMKC staff community. The first meeting for this committee is on Tuesday, July 10, 2:30 to 4 pm, in the Gillham Room of the Administrative Center.
The Recognition Committee will highlight the achievements of staff members by developing, maintaining, and improving recognition tools like staff scholarship and staff awards. This committee will meet for the first time on Thursday, July 12, 1:00 to 2:30 pm, in the Brookside Room of the Administrative Center.
The Advocacy Committee will work with campus leadership, Human Resources, campus facilities and other university departments to empower staff and enrich UMKC. Its first meeting will be on Tuesday, July 17, 1:30 to 3 pm, in the Plaza Room of the Administrative Center.
The Outreach Committee will build connections with faculty, students, alum, and Kansas City residents for the betterment of our university and our city. This committee will meet for the first time on Thursday, July 19, 8:30 to 10 am in the Plaza Room of the Administrative Center.
