SI Leader Summit at the 10th International Conference on Supplemental Instruction



The International Center for Supplemental Instruction is excited to announce the first SI Leader Summit. This event, which will run concurrently with our 10th International Conference on Supplemental Instruction, will bring together SI Leaders from Supplemental Instruction programs around the globe for a morning of professional development with each other and Certified Trainers from the International Center (May 24, 2018) and a day of concurrent sessions led by their fellow SI Leaders (May 24-25, 2018). Attendees will be invited to submit session proposals. In true SI fashion, there will be plenty of opportunities for SI Leaders to collaborate, share ideas, and network.

The 1st International SI Leader Summit will provide an opportunity for U.S. and international SI Leaders and Mentors to meet and present on SI. The Proposal Selection Committee for the 2018 SI Leader Summit invites proposals for Concurrent Sessions and Poster Sessions that share expertise and insights into the peer learning knowledge gained through the SI Leader experience. Possible presentation topics include, but are not limited to, SI session best practices, effective session planning, marketing your SI sessions, and effective SI leader and faculty relationships.

Special preference will be given to SI Leaders from Certified SI Programs; to panel proposals (three or more presenters); and to proposals that address the conference theme of Sustaining Safe Harbors: Community, IncluSIvity, and Accessibility.

When submitting your proposals, please be prepared to include the following information:


Provide full names of all presenters in the order they should be listed in the program.

Type of Session

For SI Leader Summit, all sessions will be concurrent sessions.

Title of Session

Use a title that reflects the content. The title is important for attracting participants to your session. Only the title, the name of the presenter(s), and institutional affiliation(s) will appear in the daily schedule section of the conference program booklet. Choose a title that will be clear to the intended audience. Lengthy titles may be edited by the conference program chair.


Type a 50-word (maximum) summary. If your proposal is accepted, this summary will appear in the conference program. It should be written in the third person future tense (e.g. “The presenter will begin with…).


Create a 250-500 word session abstract. Describe the objectives and content of your presentation. Include your assumptions, rationale for your program, techniques, or ideas; a summary of evaluation procedures and anticipated or actual results; and any research relevant to your presentation, which may in the form of a brief bibliography. Please include a description of how you will involve participants.

Audiovisual Needs

Each room will be equipped with an LCD projector, screen, speakers and laptop computer with wireless internet access. If you are using an Apple computer, you are responsible for bringing the adapter to make it compatible with provided equipment. If you have additional needs, please contact us.
