The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management consists of 13 departments, each of which is responsible for providing a variety of student support, service and educational programs to the University community. The Division also facilitates the total educational growth and development of UMKC students to include personal, social, physical, cultural, leadership and intellectual development, as well as judicial affairs and the student grievance process.
Welcome from the Vice Chancellor
The quality of university life is often one of the most significant factors that determines whether students will complete their courses of study. The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management seeks to enhance students’ experiences at UMKC by establishing a vital co-curricular program and providing support services that help students attain their academic goals.
The Division touches UMKC students throughout the continuum of their college experience. Beginning with admission and enrollment, continuing with support services that enhance academic progress and emotional growth and culminating with the search for employment upon graduation, the Division facilitates a student’s journey through the University and beyond.
Each department has the overall development of students as its goal. By offering students opportunities to strengthen academic, social and leadership skills and enhance career development, we assist them in accepting responsibility for their personal growth and in realizing their educational goals.

What is Enrollment Management?
Enrollment Management is a holistic process to ensure our students’ academic success and life-long learningRead More
At UMKC, we define enrollment management as “an integrated systems approach that focuses on student enrollment from the time of their inquiry through graduation and post-graduation. An effective enrollment management system alters and improves the institution’s frame of reference about itself and its prospective students, community members and business partners” (Don Hossler, 1986).
This means, essentially, that a student’s success cannot be facilitated by just one aspect of the University — but all departments, units, offices and services working cohesively and collaboratively to provide the student with the needed tools to stimulate life-long learning.
“In a millennium in which knowledge has become the new economic capital, universities — the traditional providers of knowledge — face both extraordinary challenges to which they must adapt, and extraordinary opportunities they must seize” (Frank Rhodes, 2001).
