Cheri Barber, D.N.P. (School of Nursing and Health Studies)
Dr. Cheri Barber completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at UMKC with her clinical project focus on childhood obesity in primary care. She is the past president of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), the professional home for PNP’s and other advanced practice nurses who care for children. Barber has extensive pediatric clinical practice experience and will provide her expertise in the variety of clinical primary care topics students will learn throughout their clinical course work. She is honored to be the new Coordinator of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner track and looks forward to expanding the program and fostering the relationship with Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Debra Leiter, Ph.D. (Department of Political Science)
Dr. Debra Leiter is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. Her research focuses on the intersection of elections, voters, and political parties, with an emphasis on Western European electorates. Leiter received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis and her undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego. She is incredibly excited to be joining the faculty at UMKC and its vibrant research and teaching community, and looks forward to future collaboration with the faculty and students.
