Dr. Kim McNeley Appointed as Coordinator of Undergraduate Advising

We are pleased to announce that Associate Vice Provost for University College Dr. Kim McNeley has been appointed as Coordinator of Undergraduate Advising.  Dr. McNeley’s title will reflect this added responsibility as the Associate Vice Provost for University College and Undergraduate Advising.

As part of her new role, Dr. McNeley will begin working with campus colleagues to implement many of the specific recommendations by the strategic plan implementation Advising Task Force and various campus discussions focused on increasing student success.  These will include the implementation of technology-based advising support systems, working to create consistent expectations regarding student advising services, implementing a campus model based on successful intrusive advising principles, creating and implementing a campus-wide advising training and professional development program, making recommendations to the campus leadership for the assessment of advising responsibilities, existing compensation structures, and the recognition of outstanding advising.  As this work continues on campus, other activities focused on the implementation of effective intrusive advising will be led by Dr. McNeley.

I would like to thank all of the task force committee members for the thorough review of the issues and the final recommendations report.   Our continued focus on the important role of academic advising in supporting the academic success of our undergraduate students is fundamental to our priority goal of “Placing Students at the Center”.  Under Dr. McNeley’s focused leadership in this area, we are positioned to successfully achieve our goals.

Gail Hackett, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
