What is the Strategic Plan?

The Strategic Plan is a comprehensive plan of action for the future of UMKC as a university.  In 2008, the Strategic Planning process began with a steering committee and sub-committees reviewing studies and reports about UMKC and identifying core goals of our University based on our vision and mission.  These goals include:

  • Placing student success at the center
  • Leading in life and health sciences
  • Advancing urban engagement
  • Excelling in the visual and performing arts
  • Embracing diversity
  • Promoting research and economic development

Implementation committees have been meeting over past few years to determine how to put the Strategic Plan into practice, and final reports from the committees are currently being submitted.  In addition, listening sessions and presentations are being held to provide implementation updates and to hear feedback from the campus community.

If you missed the November 15 listening session, the PowerPoint presentation and video from the session are available here.  The next listening session will take place November 29th at 3:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Room 401.  We welcome all faculty and staff to attend to learn more about how we envision reaching our core goals!
