Staff Awards:
School Collaboration Award: Mercedes Tillman
This award honors staff members who recognize that their success contributes to the success of others and who accepts accountability for their performance.
“Mercedes is very organized and communicative as you are working with her on a project. She does her own work, but also helps others when there is a need. She attends school events and never complains when asked to do something.”
Education First Award: Onekia Franklin
This award honors staff members whose actions recognize that students are integral to the mission of the School and who create and encourage the desire to learn.
“Onekia is always friendly, works hard and is helpful. I am confident that I would not be able to do the job I do for students without her support. She definitely contributes to the success of others without fail.”
Faculty Awards:
Outstanding Scholar Award: Marco Brotto
This award honors faculty members who have made outstanding contributions to the School through achievements in scholarly activities, bringing regional, national or international recognition to the school.
Marco has brought much acclaim to the school of nursing through his research and grants. He is very helpful in his role as mentor to other research faculty as well.
Outstanding Educator Award: Judi Roling
This award honors faculty members who have made outstanding contributions to the educational mission of the School and who demonstrate excellence in supporting and mentoring others.
Judi always presents a very positive side to her students even when she has to discuss less than outstanding performance issues from clinical experiences. Judi makes the student understand the level of competency required in these courses and holds the students responsible for their learning while bringing them up to the standards necessary to provide advanced practice care. She is readily available to assist her students whenever possible.

Dean’s Distinguished Staff Award: Elgie Garner
This award honors staff members who serve as leaders by exhibiting a strong work ethic as well as a commitment to our community, our students’ welfare and to the future of the School.
Dean’s Distinguished Faculty Award: Kit Smith
This award honors faculty members who serve as leaders in providing oversight of the School’s academic programs and who enhance a positive work environment.
