UMKC Names Webb City Student as Honor Recipient

Chosen for outstanding academic and service involvement

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management has selected five graduating seniors as Fall 2011 Vice Chancellor Honor Recipients. Among them is Chloe Miller of Webb City, Mo. Miller was commended for both scholarship and participation in programs outside the classroom.

While earning a degree in Biology, Miller joined the Pre-Dental Society and the Campus Crusade for Christ, eventually serving as its president. She volunteered with Harvesters, collecting and packaging food for the hungry, and provided free dental care to children through the Pre-Dental Society. As president of CRU, Miller organized groups to assist new students on Move-In Day and participated in community service projects as part of Roos Give Back.

Tammy Welchert, Student Services Coordinator, School of Biological Sciences, praised Miller’s “collaboration and service to the Kansas City community. Chloe stepped up to take her place among our distinguished alumni. She has worked selflessly to provide assistance and opportunities to her student colleagues and the underserved populations in the Kansas City metropolitan area.”

Miller plans to attend dental school.

The Vice Chancellor Honors Recipients program was established in 1975 to recognize seniors who excelled in academic achievement, involvement in university programs and service to the campus and surrounding community.

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), one of four University of Missouri campuses, is a public university serving more than 15,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students.
