Show will run May 3 through July 28 in UMKC Gallery of Art
The 2012 Student Art Exhibition will open in the University of Missouri-Kansas City Gallery of Art on May 3, featuring work by 41 student artists. This exhibition includes painting, photography, multimedia, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, graphic design, and video works.
There will be an opening reception, open to the public, Thursday, May 3 from 5-7 pm in the gallery, located in Room 203 of the Fine Arts Building, 5015 Holmes.
This year’s exhibition was juried by Peter Frank, art critic for the Huffington Post and Associate Editor for Fabrik magazine. He has served as Editor of THEmagazine Los Angeles and Visions Art Quarterly; and as a critic for The Village Voice and The SoHo Weekly News in New York and Angeleno magazine and L.A. Weekly in Los Angeles. During his recent tenure as Senior Curator at the Riverside Art Museum, Frank organized numerous exhibitions, including “Driven to Abstraction: Southern California and the Non-Objective World, 1950-1988.”
Scholarship awards, including Best in Show as selected by Frank, will be announced at the opening. Three scholarship recipients will also be recognized at the event.
