Jade Robinson, July 2017
Program:
Bachelor of Business Administration
School: Henry W. Bloch School of Management
Hometown: Little Rock, Arkansas
Organizations: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority

You’re graduating soon. What’s next?

I have a full-time job, but my goal is to get started on a master’s degree in auditing. I’d really like to become an internal auditor.

Why did you choose your field of study?

I have a love of banking. So many people don’t understand the importance of financial literacy, and I want to teach people about it. I love helping people.

The program’s challenges are remembering formulas and which to use for what. But the possibilities are open for jobs and careers – you can do so much with it.

What excites you?

I get excited when the people I’m around are doing positive things, especially achieving their goals such as graduating or starting a business. There’s a lot of struggle in succeeding, a lot of sleepless nights. It’s exciting to see the hard work pay off.

Who do you admire most at UMKC?

I admire Dr. Kim Johnson because she inspires me to be that person who helps those in need.

I also have learned so much about finance through Dr. (Stephen) Pruitt at the Bloch School.

What is one word that best describes you?

Ambitious. I set goals for myself, and I achieve because failure is not an option. I have drive, and I refuse to give up no matter the circumstances.

From across the country and around the world, our students come together in Kansas City to study business, medicine, theatre and more than 100 other academic areas. Roos become leaders in their fields and give back to their communities.
