Subway Franchise Opening at UMKC

Restaurant located on the Hospital Hill campus

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Subway Restaurant will open Nov. 8 on the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Hospital Hill campus. The new store will be located at 2413 Charlotte St., Kansas City, Mo., in the UMKC Hospital Hill Parking Structure.

“UMKC is very pleased to bring this health-conscious brand to our students, faculty and staff, and to our Hospital Hill partners and surrounding neighborhood,” said Bob Simmons, associate vice chancellor of administration.

The Subway restaurant chain is known for offering a healthier alternative to traditional fast food.

The restaurant will help serve an active campus and surrounding area. Approximately 3,400 UMKC health professions students are enrolled on the Hospital Hill Campus, which includes the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Health Studies, and Pharmacy. The schools are in walking distance from clinical partners that include the Center for Behavioral Medicine, Children’s Mercy and Truman Medical Center.

In the summer of 2014, the area will become even more active. By that time, Hospital Hill’s first student residence halls will be complete.

The Subway restaurant’s exact hours are still being determined. The eatery will provide catering to the area. They can provide party platters, giant subs, cookie platters and box lunches for a variety of events.
