Nixon proposes $20 million for public colleges, universities

Gov. Jay Nixon‘s fiscal year 2015 budget will designate for public colleges and universities within Missouri $20 million to go create another 1,200 mental health care professionals.

The initiative would translate into a $6.4 million grant for the University of Missouri to teach more psychiatric nurses, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, physical therapists and licensed psychologists. The University of Missouri-Kansas City would see $4.2 million, the University of Central Missouri would get $610,940 and Metropolitan Community College would get $439,892.
