Law School to Celebrate ‘Be Kind to Lawyers Day’

Free continental breakfast April 12 is a show of appreciation

The School of Law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City knows that it can be tough out there for a lawyer.

Long work days. Clients with unreasonable expectations. Impatient judges. Bad jokes by second-rate comedians.

So the school is offering their beleaguered alumni and special friends a break with a “Be Kind to Lawyers Day” event April 12 at the school, 500 E. 52nd St., Kansas City, Mo. Attendees can enjoy a free continental breakfast, souvenir “Be Kind to Lawyers” coffee mugs and, most importantly, a pat on the back for the important and too-often-thankless work they do.

“We decided it was time to show some appreciation to hard-working people who devote their lives and careers to a profession that is an absolute necessity for a modern free society,” said Ellen Y. Suni, dean of the school. “Sure, everybody has their favorite ‘two lawyers walk into a bar’ story, and we all know it comes with the territory. But everyone needs to feel appreciated sometimes – yes, even lawyers.”

Attendees must RSVP by April 8 at umkclaw.link/bekind.

Free and easy parking will be available in the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures (5235 Oak St, Kansas City, MO 64112) lot.
