Kansas City Chief Builds Bridges to Black Residents

Jim Carlton, reporter with the Wall Street Journal, recently interviewed Ken Novak, professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, for a story about Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forte. The story was also picked up by the website canmua.com. The article mentions the Kansas City No Violence Alliance (KC NoVA), which Novak and UMKC colleagues helped create along with Forte and Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, a UMKC alumna. KC NoVA works with local prosecutors and others to deter violent offenders from becoming involved in criminal activity.
